Exams!

My Aromamagictherapy classes last summer are totally coming in handy for my potions exam that’s coming up. I’ve found that I’m just so much more relaxed and able to add the right ingredients at the right time in the right amounts with much less anxiety than I ever used to. I’m giving Layla some help and quick tips. She’s feeling a little overwhelmed right now. Most of what I’m helping her with is some basic memorization and some quick tips for effective and efficient potion mixing. Gosh, I sound a bit like Tecna there, what with the efficient and effective comment. Layla’s coming along quickly and should do just fine. She just needs to relax and trust herself. I keep telling her that none of the ingredients that we’ll be given for the exam will have anywhere near the power of the ingredients we used for the Amorhpus potion. I think she’s a little potion-shy though. Now I just have to get this relaxed for all my other exams. Oh dear.

No Wrinkles Please

Drudgery abounds here at Alfea—it’s final exams time, and we’re all busy fairies. You don’t see anyone in the hallways that isn’t carrying a huge load of textbooks and looking worried. All that frowning is totally not good for the wrinkle situation. We’re totally too young for that, but I’m confident I won’t have to worried. I make an effort never to furrow my brow. Not only because it will be good for my skin in the long run, but it makes a huge difference on my outlook! Speaking of outlooks, Bloom’s isn’t good for our Transformations exam. She’s totally not confident about it, and one thing I can tell you for sure: if you don’t have confidence it’s hard to succeed! I told her I’d be her study buddy and see if I can’t get a strong step in her stride walking into that silly old exam!

Oh Boy

Year-end exams are coming up. I have to admit, I’ve never had to write final exams before. As a princess in my home realm, I just had to keep studying all the time. There were tests, but nothing like these exams. Nothing that ever tried to test all that you’d learned about a single subject. Never mind that! It’s testing everything we know about every subject! It’s really pretty intimidating. I’m finding the potions exam is the one that is causing me the most anxiety right now. I’m worried because you have to be so precise with ingredients, but you can also use your intuition to add a little more or a little less to gain the desired result. I know I’m not explaining this very well, but it’s kind of like cooking. You know how a recipe calls for one teaspoon of something, but you add two and a dash of something else and it turns out better? Kind of like that. Flora has been trying to teach me a few tricks. In our exam we’re given the name of the potion, and the ingredients list, but the amounts and procedures are left up to us to remember... or intuit as Flora keeps telling me. After that disaster with the Amorphus potion, I’m a bit nervous of adding too much of anything.

Hmmmm, how to explain how I’m feeling right now... how about “Ug.” Or “Ick”? Maybe “Ooooogy”? No, that kind of says I’m not feeling well, or something. Well, I’ll get to the point. It’s final exam season, and I’m sort of wishing I’d paid more attention during Transformations class. I was talking with Ms. F about it yesterday, and she was very nice. She reminded me about Lord Darkar and Avalon and everything to do with that, and I appreciate her understanding, but that doesn’t make my sitch any easier, you know? I still have to do the exam. Stella has been helping me a lot, though, and I’m really thankful I took such good notes. That makes all the difference, but Stella doesn’t seem to get it. She says it’s as simple as changing your hair color, but she seems to forget how hard that was for me to learn! Oh well. I’ll stick with it, study hard, and I know it will pay off. Then summer break! Oh! And no Sky?! I forgot about that...

Charmix Exam

Whew! The Charmix exam is just over and it was super tough. I kinda slacked after my training with Ms. G. I figured that once I had it down with her, I’d be fine. I was so wrong! I just barely managed to beat the monster that Ms. G summoned for my test. It totally drained my Charmix and then WHAMO! There’s another wicked bad beast that almost got me. I think I probably got a B or B+ maybe. I wish now that I’d done way more studying through the semester. It would have been nice to end the test with a bang instead of a panicky thrashing around. At least that’s how it felt... barely one step ahead. Ah well. I’m gonna go have a nap, play my flute for a while, and then get studying for my next exam. It’s Transformations. Now that one should be a snap!

Daunting!

I think that studying for so many exams all at once has us all a little overwhelmed. Each class has so much information we have to remember and there are so many classes! It is very daunting, and I am not too certain how to go about keeping it all straight! I think it is just a matter of going after it systematically. I am studying for one course at a time and going through each chapter of the textbook slowly and making up refresher notes and flash cards. I am having a heck of a time with Digit, though! She is usually so calm and resourceful, but lately she is just bouncing off the walls. She wants to play video games all the time, and while I do love video games, I am having enough trouble staying focused as it is! The last thing I need is her distracting me! I think she is looking forward to going home to the Binary Galaxy, too, and her enthusiasm is spreading! I simply cannot wait to be home!
